  How HIGH did you climb the ranks as a JW? Did you like the STATUS?

  so what were your biggest jw accomplishments as a rank & file?

  curious as to what level you climbed the r&f ladder while in the org, or if you still are in.. did you regular pioneer, or auxiliary pioneer?

  Reopened Mind: Well that's cool...didn't know you and TotallyADD were married. Funny being "first lady of the congregation"....I observed that mentality in a few congregations. Being the PO wife seemed to include being the leader for other sisters. How did that title make you feel? Did you like it?

  As I said I was simply amused by the comment. I never considered that I had a position by reason of being anyone's wife. I always thought a position should be earned. Actually I was a little uncomfortable and I never referred to myself as such. I was just Sister Reopened Mind.

  Your Age at Baptism (into JWs, not Catholics or Baptists - duh)

  leavingwt mentioned on another thread the age of his wife when she was baptized.

  she was a child.

  how can you expect a child to make such a decision?.

  I was a teenage Bible study too. I was baptised at 20 after I left home because my parents didn't approve of my becoming a Witness. I married at 21.

  I don't care what age one was when one was baptised. Nobody is told fully what he/she is signing on for or that "current truth" will become "past truth" to be replaced with "new light". Makes my head spin just thinking about it.

  Another female here. I was the wife of an MS and an elder (TotallyADD). I auxiliary pioneered for 2 years, then regular pioneered for 2 years. I was amused when a friend called me the "first lady of the congregation" because my husband was the PO. I was interviewed on a CA and did a demonstration on a DC. TotallyADD forgot to mention that he worked in the baptismal department for CAs where I assisted in the sisters dressing room.

  The problem could be solved quite easily if and this is a big IF the Watchtower Society or at least her circuit or district would pay for her bloodless surgery. It would be the loving thing to do.

  Things we have WANTED rather badly in our lives....

  i was at work yesterday at the bookstore.. watching a mom and her little boy.... the kid was really really wanting something or other and the mom was drawing the line and telling him "no".. he was having a come-apart over it.

  some little book or movie.

  to him it was a big deal.. .

  I was 12 years old and wanted a cat, a Persian, really really badly. Dad bought me a beautiful black kitty, but wouldn't let me keep him in the house. A week later I found him dead on the road. He had been hit by a car. I was heartbroken. My dad got me another cat and this time he allowed me to keep him in the house. I'm still crazy about cats. I currently have 4, including one who I have had for 22 years.

  Studies

  this past weekend i had a lot of questions answers and i have thought about if i wanna go all the way with studying with the jehovah witness'.

  and i also been also talking to my mother (somewhat ex jw) and there are a lot of things the jw do that i don't agree with.

  i have been thinking and well i am not going all the way trough with the jws.

  You have my admiration too for asking questions and going where the answers led you.

  Study and learn more about the Bible. Explore the EVIDENCE. Don't stop with the Christian view of the Bible. Learn about geology, secular history, scientific dating, biology.

  There is so much to learn. Be careful to inquire of the source of your information as some "teachers" have an agenda or are connected to those who do. For example, those who are touting the latest research on a particular vitamin may be working for a vitamin company.

  Keep your eyes and your mind open.

  Welcome sweetrose74. Love your name. My husband brings me a sweet rose from our rose garden every morning.

  Freedom from mind control is a wonderful thing. Teaching your son how to think and reason for himself will be the greatest gift you can give him.

  Your grandmother's 3 JW children are classic examples of ones who are under the influence of a mind controlling cult. They are not allowed to show brotherly love.

  Wife wants me to read Secret of Family Happiness, any suggestions?

  hello, have been on this board for a few years, and now my wife is asking me to read the subject book with her.

  .

  it seems pretty 'vanilla' in my scan through it, seems to lift up the male headship issue a few times and of course the cure to all ill is to 'attend christian meetings'.. am still working to fully open her eyes, anything in here i can use that may help, any conflicts with current doctrine i could possibly point out??.

  Read it. Read it with her. Then put on your critical thinking cap and have a good discussion. O, and bring in other resources and get her opinion.

  Is there a new "full court press" to bring back "lost ones"?

  i ask the question because all of a sudden i am getting bombarded by my mother and other family members to "take my wife's hand and run back to jehovah before it is too late"!!

  i am getting e-mail with screen shots of the un website (http://www.un.org/en/peace) stating "peace and security", being told that this could likely be the last memorial celebrated and that the door to the ark will be closing soon.

  has anyone else been seeing an up-tick in these "prodigal son" appeals from jw friends and family?

  I agree with Outlaw, you're probably on someone's radar. It also could be that more are auxiliary pioneering this month because of the reduced hour requirements (only 30).They need something to do to ease their conscience that they are actually accomplishing the preaching work. So they put you on their radar.

  As for the UN, a large part of the reason for their existence is to promote peace in the world and do all they can to ensure security.

  Have any of the prophecies of the WT come true in their 130 year history? Why would you believe them now?

  Just had my first JW visit in almost 13 years. . . weirder than I could have thought.

  she finally found me today.

  of course to invite me to memorial.

  Ilovebirthdays,

  You were so there for your friend. Your old friend needed a friend in the worst way, a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on. You showed her something she cannot get from her WT "friends"---Unconditional love. Just being there for her was the best thing you could do for her. I'm glad you exchanged phone numbers so she can contact you again. Trust me, she will need you to keep listening.
